{"id":156,"date":"2008-02-17T14:33:40","date_gmt":"2008-02-17T21:33:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crapmonkey.com\/archives\/156"},"modified":"2008-02-17T14:33:40","modified_gmt":"2008-02-17T21:33:40","slug":"talking-metal-enters-the-living-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.crapmonkey.com\/podcast\/?p=156","title":{"rendered":"Talking Metal Enters the Living Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Talking Metal Podcast\" alt=\"Talking Metal Podcast\" src=\"http:\/\/crapmonkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/TalkingMetal.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>If you&#8217;ve listened to the CrapMonkey Podcast for any length of time you&#8217;ve probably heard me mention the <a title=\"Talking Metal Podcast\" href=\"http:\/\/www.striglsmusicnews.com\/podcasts\/talkingmetal\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Talking Metal Podcast<\/a>.\u00a0 In the podcast, <a title=\"Mark Strigl\" href=\"http:\/\/strigl.wordpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Strigl<\/a> and <a title=\"John Ostronomy\" href=\"http:\/\/www.striglsmusicnews.com\/john.htm\" target=\"_blank\">John Ostronomy<\/a> cover rock and metal from many different angles.\u00a0 Not only do they have impressive back stage access\u00a0to metal legends; they are also well suited\u00a0for spotting and exposing new talent on the horizon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On February 22nd, <a title=\"Talking Metal on Fuse\" href=\"http:\/\/fuse.tv\/tv\/talkingmetal\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">the Fuse network<\/a> will premiere the first Talking Metal television episode that &#8220;will feature exclusive interviews and field packages in the podcast\u2019s signature style.&#8221;\u00a0 The show will air at midnight Eastern (9pm Pacific) and I already have my DVR locked and loaded and hope you&#8217;ll do the same.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a podcaster, a metal head and a media consumer, I&#8217;m proud of these guys for a\u00a0few reasons.\u00a0 From a Podcaster perspective, they took their passion for metal and ran with it.\u00a0 It was and is a labor of love.\u00a0 The fact that others have taken notice validates everything Podcasting stands for: broadcasting your passion and finding your audience.\u00a0 As a metal head, I&#8217;m\u00a0impressed that\u00a0they marched ahead, even as pop-culture was turning their nose up at metal.\u00a0\u00a0As such, the Internet proved to be a great medium for pulling together\u00a0the metal audience from disperse geographies.\u00a0\u00a0Likewise, over the\u00a0couple of years in which\u00a0they&#8217;ve been podcasting, the tides have shifted some, and the new television show is evidence that Metal is making its way back toward the mainstream.\u00a0 Perhaps <a title=\"Talking Metal\" href=\"http:\/\/www.striglsmusicnews.com\" target=\"_blank\">Talking Metal<\/a> played some role in that shift, but regardless, Mark and John held fast and did their thing until the world took notice ( first iTunes and now the airwaves).\u00a0 Finally, as a media consumer who pays over $100 a month for cable, I&#8217;m excited that their will be a new show in town that was not slapped together by some douche bag producers following a formula for capturing an advertising demographic.\u00a0 The Podcast is testament to the fact that this\u00a0is a real show with a real soul that is simply being ported to television.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So again, be sure to catch the premiere on February 22nd.\u00a0 Congratulations Mark and John, and if you ever find yourself in Seattle, allow me to give you\u00a0a tour of some of the\u00a0incredible breweries\u00a0we have out here \ud83d\ude42\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0Rock on!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve listened to the CrapMonkey Podcast for any length of time you&#8217;ve probably heard me mention the Talking Metal Podcast.\u00a0 In the podcast, Mark Strigl and John Ostronomy cover rock and metal from many different angles.\u00a0 Not only do they have impressive back stage access\u00a0to metal legends;
