POC 9 - CrapMonkey Podcast - Pieces of Crap #9

November 29, 2006 12:13 am

Travis BrewsIn this fairly lengthy Piece of Crap, my friends and I take to brewing some beer.  We went up to Cellar Home Brew and bought all the equipment needed to start brewing our own beer.  In addition to the gear, we picked up the necessary ingredients to whip up a porter (which we dubbed Schrodinger’s Porter - give us a break, we’d had a few beers by then).  After getting all the gear home, stocking up the fridge with Dechutes, and downloading a few how-to articles from the Internet; Matt, Mr. Mark and I step into the wonderdul world of home brew.  Images are available on my Flickr page.

CMP-11-21-2006: CrapMonkey Podcast Episode 111

November 22, 2006 12:37 am

It’s almost turkey-day and I’m certainly ready for a break.  Tonight I have some audio clips from a fun afternoon at the Village Pub in Magnolia watching the Applecup.  Unfortunately, the Cougars weren’t able to pull off a win against the Huskies.  Next year I guess.  I also have a restroom review from the Skylark in West Seattle.

The website of the day is openDNS.com and the song of the day is College Daze by The Clintons.  We close the show with On the Radio by Gary Reynolds and the Brides of Obscurity

Washington Beer Lovers Unite!  In this episode, we are hanging out at the WABL first birthday party at Elysian Fields.  We have the opportunity to speak with Dick Cantwell (owner and head brewer of the Elysian Brewing Company) and Bill Jenkins (head brewer at Big Time Brewery).  You might also want to catch up on Dick’s impressive archive of articles. I also chat with Lisa Miyashita from the Washington Brewers Guild to find out a bit more about WABL and its roots.  Also in the news today, Internet Explorer 7 has launched and is ready to download for WindowsXP users and if you are looking for a winter vacation idea, you might try the Motley Cruise.  Finally, the Elysian Fields restroom gets a review today (and you might be suprised by the results).

The song of the day is HangMan by Zach Harjo and the website of the day is JibJab’s Great Sketch Experiment.  The show closes today on Done by Beth Thornley

Podtrac Party

The Podcast and Portable Media Expo came and went but many good times were had.  In this episode, I have a sound seeing tour of some of the after-parties we went to on Friday night.  We started out at the Podcast Awards, then rolled over to the Podtrac birthday party.  After that we popped up to the Rawvoice party and then over to the Dawn and Drew listener Party.  The last place we hit was the Libsyn and kipronic party.  Whew.  Along the way I ran into a lot of interesting folks like Pete Grondal, Eric Weaver, Brother Love, Dawn and Drew (including Showbiz Dad, Showbiz Cousin and Showbiz Cousin-and-law), the body painter Kevin Mason, Pam and Lance Heath, Sheila from The Dragon Page With Class and the fine folks from ThreeAmigos.TV, SwitchPod, and LoveLongandProsper.com.  Wow, what a night.  Thanks to all who sponsored the great times!  Images are available on Flickr.  Also be sure to check out the interviews from the show floor at SeattlePodcasting.net.

The song of the day is There She Goes by Brother Love and the website of the day is foundmagazine.com.  We close the show on a phone number by Jeff Shields.

CMP-09-24-2006: CrapMonkey Podcast Episode 107

September 24, 2006 10:44 pm

It’s the end of a beautiful weekend in Ballard.  The sun was out and the Seahawks were winning… what more could you ask for?  In this episode, I recap what seemed like a very fast week.  Next weekend, I’ll be heading down to the Podcast and Portable Media Expo, so be on the look out for audio from that event.  Fremont Oktoberfest came and went and I never made it down there, however, Leavenworth Oktoberfest is quickly approaching.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if you enjoy Washington beers, you need to sign up for WABL at Washingtonbeers.com.  Speaking of beer, I came across some pretty cool goblets made from Recycled beer bottles that are worth a peek.

The Song of the day is Flames in Synergy by Inner Surge and the website of the day is Jiwire.com.  We close on a song being performed by Mary, a friend we made while sharing a campfire and some smores in the Yakima River Canyon.

September 6, 2006 8:19 pm

In this nugget, I’ve got about 20 minutes of audio to share from our Labor Day camping trip to the Big Pines Recreational site in the Yakima River Canyon.  We spent five days there relaxing around a campfire, floating down the river, and even hitting the Kititas County Fair.  Photos are available on Flickr.
