In this fairly lengthy Piece of Crap, my friends and I take to brewing some beer. We went up to Cellar Home Brew and bought all the equipment needed to start brewing our own beer. In addition to the gear, we picked up the necessary ingredients to whip up a porter (which we dubbed Schrodinger’s Porter – give us a break, we’d had a few beers by then). After getting all the gear home, stocking up the fridge with Dechutes, and downloading a few how-to articles from the Internet; Matt, Mr. Mark and I step into the wonderdul world of home brew. Images are available on my Flickr page.

180 degrees? I think that water still boils at 212 unless you’re at a very ‘high’ altitude. I just listened to this episode, but it’s funnier that crap. Hoppy beers are horrible, BTW.

Yep – still boils around 212. If only that was our only mistake in the making of this beer. Incidently, we’ve since renamed this batch “DDP” (Designated Driver Porter) as fermentation never quite happened and you’d have to drink a truck load of this stuff to get a buzz. Our second batch (a very hoppy IPA) is doing better than our first. And that, my friend, is where I will disagree with you and say that hoppy beers rock… bring on the high IBUs! Thanks for the comment!
